4th of July

The overcast skies and 2.5 inches of rain throughout the day were constant reminders that the 4th of July is no holiday in Uganda... working on American holidays isn't a highlight of working overseas either. We ended up celebrating the 4th on the 1st with about 150 other Americans that we'd never met before at the American Club in Kampala. They did a pretty good job of making it feel like the 4th - there were hamburgers and hot dogs to eat, a presentation by the Marines, and a speech by the US Ambassador to Uganda. Of course there we're fireworks... but we were home and putting the boys in bed before they even started. Happy 4th!

Our 3 year old covers her ears, and screams in terror at the sight and sound of fire works, so none for us either.
