Halloween in Bunga...

Aside from the devils and demons... Halloween is a great holiday... I like eating candy and playing dress-up... and doing both at the same time is even better...

It's also a great opportunity to teach Noah and Kadin about an American tradition so they don't become the weird missionary kids... Halloween isn't a Ugandan holiday... and knocking on huts and asking for candy is going to land more tricks than treats...

So I booked a Halloween visit with our friends from the Republic of Texas who live in the neighborhood...

I made the mistake of asking Noah what he wanted to be... as if we have costume shops in the neighborhood... when he asked to be Spiderman all I could think of was covering him with cobwebs... but upon inspection of of the DVD cover I realized that I could get away with making a mask...

After an hour of magic marker work with Noah... I suggested to Kadin that he should dress up as Noah... he took the bait when Noah let him wear his Lightening McQueen shirt...

The neighbors in the village didn't know what to think of us as we pasted by with empty bags and Noah casting webs from his wrists... but once we made it to our friends place they knew exactly what to do... even though the boys didn't...

When it came time for there big line... the boys called out...

"Can we have some candy?""... at least they forgot to say "please"...???

Not exactly "trick or treat"... but they got what they were looking for...
