Kadin is hungry...

I do realize that writing about money all week could be like listening to fingers on a chalkboard... and I'm planning on sharing a few more ideas next week... but for today here is something on the lighter side of life...

"Kadin is hungry..."

It didn't make much sense when Kadin's teacher told us... until she explained that he was eating the books, toys, crafts, plants and other random objects in and around his classroom...

We had this problem at the house... he was eating Christine's flowers, Noah's books and sucking the sweat off my running clothes... a shrink would probably diagnose him with oral fixation or a mastication addiction...

But the destructive crewing ended at home when he started watching Looney Tunes... and Christine started stocking the house with an endless supply of carrots...

Now at any time of the day or night you can hear a loud crunch followed by "what's up doc?"

We suggested it to his teacher and she gladly accepted... so Monday we sent Kadin to school with 5 kilos of carrots... thinking that it would last the week...

Ms Luwande was thrilled to tell us when we picked him up that the carrots worked... although she was concerned that he might turn orange... a show like Myth Busters would make a huge impact in a country like Uganda... but since it isn't here yet we assured her he would stay white...

On Tuesday she asked us to bring more carrots... apparently Kadin's classmates all like carrots too... fortunately produce is one of the few items that comes at a ridiculously low price... and a small price to pay in comparison to replacing all the toys and craft supplies in his classroom...

Now I don't know if this gets us nominated for parents of the year... but anything is better than watching him eat from the dog bowl, compost pile or trash can...

That's all folks...

Ummmm.... not very shocking considering the boy's daddy. Dog food, anyone?
