Why GBI? - Part 5

Equipping Christian Leaders is the key to… Transforming a society…

Uganda cannot be considered a Christian nation…

Because thousands of children have been kidnapped over the last 20 years and the warlord who is brain washing them has gone unstopped and unpunished…

Because child sacrifice still takes place…

Because despite their poverty Uganda consumes more alcohol per capita than the cast of Cheers…

Because political leaders lie and steal from the people daily with no accountability…

Because church officials are comfortable living in great wealth while their members starve…

Because the greatest press the church has gotten in the last three years are reports of ministers molesting children, pastors getting caught performing false miracles and prosperity preachers walking away with all the church’s riches while the people stay poor…

Because the false teaching that is spreading in the majority of the churches is so bad it would take the Apostle Paul 45 chapters to address the main issues…

Truly, I CANNOT believe that Uganda is a Christian nation…

I will never forget the day I met Bill Hybels… actually I didn’t really met him… I was just in the same room… he was traveling the country promoting his 2003 Leadership Summit and he traveled to something like 50 churches in 5 days… those numbers aren’t exact but you get the point – the man was on the move…

He flew to Camarillo and 200 local pastors showed up at exactly 3 PM to hear him speak… his message was simple and I can remember it to this day…

“The church is the hope of the world… if you can change a church you can change a community…. If you can change a community you can change a city… if you can change a city you can change a nation… and if you can change a nation you can change the world… the church is the hope of the world…. AND ITS FUTURE RESTS PRIMARILY IN THE HANDS OF ITS LEADERS!”

If Uganda’s future rests in the hands of its leaders than it’s future is HOPELESS!

I am going to say it until I am blue in the face…

EQUIPPING CHRISTIAN LEADERS IS THE KEY TO TRANSFORMING AFRICAN SOCIETY!
