The Grand Opening...

It has been two weeks since the Grand Opening... and I think I am finally recovered enough to write about it...
The event itself was amazing... everything leading up to it was exhausting!

The contractors literally worked on the campus up until 15 minutes before the ceremony began at 10 AM on March 25th...

A number of people had the unfortunate experience of bumping up against wet paint... but other than that the day... the campus... and the ceremony were all perfect!

The students did a fabulous job of helping out to clean up the campus in preparation for the event and then served as ushers and hosts on the big day...

The Prime Minister (pictured above) showed up at 10 AM sharp and delivered a great speech in support of the school that was aired later that evening on the local Ugandan news station (UBC)...

We also had the support of some of Uganda's finest... from left to right... Dr. Oloput (Director of Private Institutes for the National Council for Higher Education)... Rev. Simon Peter Emiau (Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship of Uganda)... Rev Obed Rubaiza (GBI Board Chairman)... Professor Apolo Nsibambi (Prime Minister of Uganda)... me, security guy and camera guy...

Joseline was pretty excited to sneak into this picture while handing the scissors to the Prime Minister...

The stress of the big day got to me... I was down with a 102 fever the two days before the Opening... and was still burning on the big day... but I didn't understand the full extent of the stress until I saw this picture...
Check out the massive hair loss!

I deserve a bottle of Rogaine for all my efforts...

We watched the videos this morning. What a wonderful opening ceremony. We will continue to pray for the equipping of African Leadership. We pray that the Lord will bless and guide the work of GBI as it becomes a center for the building up gifted men and women who love the Lord God with all their hearts, minds and souls. To God be the Glory.
