Still riding a Sunday high...

This last Sunday was amazing!

I had an opportunity to preach at Gaba Community Church about "The Hope of the Gospel"...

After the first service a young man from a Muslim family came forward to give his life to Christ... I thought it couldn't get better... but it did...

A young lady came up to me between services insisting she needed to talk... from experience I realized I needed another lady to join us quickly... let's face it... on stage even a balding guy with a pot belly and coke bottle glasses can look good! Fortunately a mature former student of mine walked by at just the right time...

The young lady was a university student from Kenya... she was a beautiful girl with sad eyes... and she began to sharing how she was only 24 years old but she had just had her 4th abortion... she wanted help... she wanted to stop... and she wanted Christ to forgive her and fill her with hope!

It was so amazing to watch the former student then step in and comfort the girl... she took her away to another counselor at the church to get her set up for some weekly counseling and to connect her with a small group of young women...

Watching our students minister is such an encouragement to see! Since we started in Gaba I ran into a number of students that are ministering in Kampala and have stayed connected with Gaba Community Church... two of our alumni are now counselors at a crisis pregnancy center, two are serving on the pastoral team in Gaba and a handful of others are working with orphans and vulnerable children. Seeing all of them was just the boost I needed!

This last month has been one of my most discouraging months in Uganda... and if you have been with us since the beginning you might find that hard to believe! A blog isn't the best place to share all that took place... but as far as ministry goes it was a solid kick in the gut!

But seeing our alumni in action and knowing how their lives have changed has been just the boost I needed... there will be plenty of discouragements along the way... but watching people's lives change, seeing them filled with hope and then passing that hope onto others is why we are here... what a joy to see it first hand! Thank you Lord for that encouragement! I'll be riding this Sunday high all week...
